"Hi, <client>
We can definitely help you get MFP set up and synced with your Vida account.
You can actually use MFP to log your information and sync it to Vida. Unfortunately, we do not have a clean connection to MFP at this time, so you have to sync it through another app and then to Vida. I do use an iPhone but the setup should be the same on Android.
I use the Fitbit tracker app mostly as a dashboard for all my tracking stats (And because I have a Fitbit device) and then as a funnel to bring all of my data into Vida to share with my coach. So MFP connects to and syncs to Fitbit and Fitbit pulls meal data.
1. Download the Fitbit app onto your phone and create an account. You don't have to have a device we are just gonna use it to funnel data.
2. Once you have the Fitbit app and have signed up for a new account, then go into your MFP and follow the instructions to connect the apps.
You will want to connect to Fitbit through your MFP app.
To do so:
- Log into MyFitnessPal and click Apps.
- In the App Gallery, find Fitbit and click Connect.
- Click Allow to give MyFitnessPal access to your Fitbit data.
- Follow the instructions provided.
Once you confirm that MFP is connected to Fitbit, That's it. I know it's a very roundabout process and we have been working to get a direct connect to MFP. Until we can work out something to gain that API access this is the best possible method of providing email data through a tracking app.
If you do not want to use the Fitbit app, you can also use Apple Health, Misfit, iHealth, or Withings, to import MFP data into Vida as well.
Unfortunately, Under Armour and MyFitnessPal (MFP) heavily restrict the type of information that is available to third-party apps. One of the things that they do not allow to be exported from their platform is detailed food diary information. As a result, when your meal data is imported from MFP to Fitbit, you get the summarized information. This includes the caloric information and macronutrient breakdown for that meal. Instead of showing you a list of meal items, however, it only displays "Meal Summary."
This is a common frustration for many people who use multiple platforms to track their health and performance.
One workaround we have developed is simply taking a screenshot of your meal in MFP and posting it in the meal log in Vida. This at least allows your coach visibility into what you ate and the calorie breakdown per meal. This is an extra step in the flow but provides as much information as possible.
Finally, an alternative to MFP that works with Fitbit and passes a detailed meal breakdown to Fitbit (and Vida), is Loseit! Food tracking is comparable to MFP but provides more information to third party apps.
Please let me know if this helps at all. I am sorry I could not be of more assistance.
If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know!
Cause
We do not currently have a direct connection to MFP
