AOM Prescribing
See this VP Card for additional prescribing details.
Use Case 3 - Narrow Network
Vida is the only (Anti Obesity Medication) AOM prescriber covered in the plan.
- Members have access to obesity treatment via Vida's Medical Weight Loss program, which includes an extensive medical intake with labs. They receive MNT and health coaching. They will be evaluated as candidates for AOM at the start of the program and throughout, based on their weight loss progress.
AOM Coverage Eligibility Criteria
- Northrop Grumman requires a BMI>=35 or BMI>=33 with co-morbidities for coverage of a GLP-1 medication. Members with BMIs of 25-35 for Asian Americans and 30-35 for Non-Asian Americans can still enroll in MWL, but if our providers feel they are a good fit for GLP-1s, they will need to be referred outside of Vida to receive the prescription. The medications prescribed outside of Vida will not be covered by insurance.
- Co-mordities are defined as weight-related comordities including HTN, HLD, DM (Diabetes mellitus), preDM, CAD (Coronary artery disease), CHD (Coronary heart disease), MSK, sleep apnea, and PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome).
Important Note: Vida only prescribes GLPs for members with obesity not for members with diabetes.
Members might question or contest this criteria and assert their eligibility for AOMs. General response is Vida prescribing has stricter guidelines vs getting prescription from PCP for AOMs.
