Vida Provider Guidance & Member Options
Members may remain enrolled in the Vida Medical Weight Loss program and continue to see their Vida Medical Provider (VMP).
Providers must exercise clinical judgment and shared decision-making with the member to determine the best transition path. Available options include:
| Transition Option | Action for Member/Provider |
|---|---|
| Lower-Cost AOMs | Transition to lower-cost AOMs that remain on formulary (e.g., Metformin, Bupropion, Naltrexone). |
| Discontinuation | Discontinue medication and focus on behavior change only. |
| Self-Pay GLP-1 | Member opts to self-pay for a clinically appropriate GLP-1 prescription. |
Self-Pay GLP-1 Process:
- VMP continues to use Vida's prescribing guidelines to ensure clinical appropriateness.
- Prescription is sent to LillyDirect, NovoCare, or the member's pharmacy of choice.
- The member pays the full cost out-of-pocket.

MWL General Information Article
-
Group MWL - Members who have previously been on an AOM will be onboarded into group program. They will need to send medical records and meet with a VMP
- For all new members we are updating onboarding so that they flow into Group MWL if they are already on an AOM
- For members who are currently in 1:1 MWL and have been on an AOM and have not yet met their VMP we are askign them to upload their medical records so that doctor can verify that and proceed with prescription if appropriate (we were not asking for medical records previously)
- If member is able to upload before consult, then great, prescriber should be able to take a look and action accordingly
- If a member is unable to then the prescriber will ask the member to upload medical records as soon as they can after the consult
Once uploaded, prescriber will action
- Charter & Hilton members can now switch their Vida Medical Provider (prescriber) directly in the Vida app! This update gives them more control and helps them find a prescriber with earlier availability—without needing manual support.
- What you need to know:
- Who? Only Charter & Hilton members (For other orgs, provider changes still go through the escalation flow to our prescribing team, which can take longer.)
- How? Members go to Settings > Switch Provider in the app.
- App Update Required! They must update to the latest version via Apple App Store or Google Play to see this feature.
- How were they notified? Members who don’t have auto-updates were sent email + in-app messages so they know to update.
- If members reach out, remind them to update their app and follow the steps above. Thanks, everyone!
