Vida’s Care Navigators (CN) are licensed therapists but they do not provide therapy program services to Vida members. Instead, their role includes:
- Providing screening and triage for behavioral health and substance use concerns that may arise in video consults for therapists and coaches/RDs.
- Offering a one-time 30 min video consultation with a member
- Determining the appropriate program placement with Vida and submitting a referral for an appropriate coach/therapist
- Sending referrals to members for local or in-person therapy and/or programs based on the member's benefits offering
- Sending links for local resources to members via chat or to be communicated through the provider. These could include resources like clinics, food banks, or regional health programs.
- Supporting coaches in getting members in crisis connected to appropriate resources
- Helping therapists determine if a client needs a higher level of care
- Partnering with coaches by connecting with and screening members in the Mental Health Coaching program
- Assessing member appropriateness for Vida program(s), especially if there is a concern of any eating disorders
The CN receives members through several channels:
- Those who have high scores for the phq/gad survey during onboarding
- When a member accepts the pop-up offering an CN consultation when taking the Well-being survey while working in a health coaching program
- When a member requests therapy but has low scores in the phq/gad and doesn't automatically qualify for therapy

When a member is:
- not tech-savvy
- phone only and will/cannot take the well being survey
- When there are concerns for member safety or a crisis protocol is triggered
- When there are concerns for the member’s ability to participate in a Vida coaching program safely
- When a member is requesting therapy services but their account does not have access to Vida therapy, a CN can provide a consultation to assist in finding community resources/referrals
- AND AFTER the member has completed the therapy program. The CN will review to ensure the proper closing procedures were completed by the therapist and move the member to the Vida CN Virtual dash.
In the case where a CN is assigned because a member has completed the therapy program: Once assigned, the CN will appear under the Primary Coach section on the members’ Team as Vida CN Virtual (virituallcm@vida.com). This is a closed dash that is monitored by the CN Team to identify any members that have completed therapy but might reach out to reconnect or request additional information.
If a CN determines a member qualifies for therapy, the member is connected directly to a Vida therapist or placed in the Waitlist dash for the therapy team to connect to a Vida therapist when someone is available.
