Running into a roadblock while trying to join Vida? Don’t worry, most signup issues are caused by small data mismatches that are easy to fix.
Below are the most common reasons members encounter eligibility errors and exactly how to resolve them.
1. Error: “An account already exists”
If you see this message, it usually means you have created a Vida account in the past, perhaps through a previous employer or an earlier enrollment.
How to fix it:
Try Logging In: Instead of clicking "Sign Up," tap Log In on the main screen.
Reset Your Password: If you don’t remember your login details, click the Forgot Password link to reset your credentials.
Recover Your Account: If you aren’t sure which email address is linked to your old account, contact Vida Support for assistance in recovering it.
2. Error: "We couldn't verify your information"
Vida verifies your eligibility by matching the details you enter against the official records provided by your employer or health plan. If these don't match exactly—character for character—the system cannot verify you.
How to fix it:
Use Your Legal Name: Enter your first and last name exactly as they appear on your insurance card or pay stub. Do not use nicknames (e.g., use "Christopher" instead of "Chris").
Check Your Date of Birth: Ensure your birthdate matches your official health plan records.
Watch for Spacing & Hyphens: Pay close attention to hyphenated last names or special spacing. Even a small typo can block verification.
3. Can I sign up using a nickname?
No. When creating your account, you must use your legal name.
Because our system needs to validate your coverage with your insurance provider, the name on your Vida account must match their files. Once your account is successfully created, you can update your profile with your preferred name (what you want your Health Coach to call you) in the app settings.
4. Am I trying to sign up too early?
In some cases, your Vida benefits may not be active yet. This is common for new hires or at the very start of a new plan year.
How to check:
Confirm that your benefits start date has passed.
If you recently changed insurance plans or employers, there may be a delay in your data reaching our system.
